Data Collection & Analysis unit test

A test on this unit alone, marked as a percentage and a letter grade — for the test your class is actually sitting, rather than for May. Answer everything, then submit once: seeing the answer to question 3 before attempting question 4 makes the final percentage meaningless.

Each paper is built from this unit’s 33 terms and is the same for everyone, so a teacher can assign “Unit 2, Paper 1” and every student sits the identical test. Multiple choice is marked objectively; the written sections you mark yourself against the model answer and rubric.

A student proposes the following data collection and analysis plan. "I will hand out a paper survey to students during lunch on one Friday, asking them to rate their stress on a scale of 1 to 10 and to report how many hours of homework they do. I expect about 120 responses. I will then calculate the correlation between the two numbers. If the correlation is above 0.5, I will conclude that homework causes stress."

Identify TWO threats to the validity of the sample and explain each.

Explain one measurement problem with the stress variable as operationalized.

Explain why the proposed conclusion does not follow from the proposed analysis.

Describe ONE specific change that would strengthen the study without requiring resources a student does not have.
