What examiners penalize here
- On the AP interpersonal speaking task, examiners hear your tones. Practice the four-tone chart aloud with real family words — 妈妈 (māma), 弟弟 (dìdi, “younger brother”), 姐姐 (jiějie, “older sister”) — so accurate pitch becomes automatic before you have to think about grammar.
- Family-description prompts are extremely common on AP Chinese. Memorize a fluent self-introduction of your household using 口 (kǒu) and correct measure words, e.g. 我家有五口人 (Wǒ jiā yǒu wǔ kǒu rén). It is an easy, reliable way to open the interpersonal task strongly.
