What examiners penalize here

• When an AP prompt shows a picture and asks you to describe it, reach for 着: 一个人站着 (yí gè rén zhànzhe, “a person is standing”), 他戴着帽子 (tā dàizhe màozi, “he is wearing a hat”). Scene-description with 着 quickly produces detailed, natural-sounding output.
• For the AP cultural comparison, weave in aesthetic vocabulary and a concrete example — 中国画讲究和谐与留白 (Zhōngguó huà jiǎngjiu héxié yǔ liúbái, “Chinese painting values harmony and blank space”). Naming a specific ideal like 留白 (liúbái, “leaving blank space”) shows genuine cultural knowledge.
