What examiners penalize here

• On persuasive texts, locate the **necessity triggers** (il faut que, il est urgent que, il est temps que) to find the author’s proposed action. These subjunctive clauses usually contain the thesis — what the writer wants the reader to do.
• Tell the two si-patterns apart: **si + present → futur** describes a *likely* outcome, while **si + imparfait → conditionnel** describes a *hypothetical* one. Naming which pattern a text uses shows whether the author sees the scenario as probable or imagined.
