What examiners penalize here

• On free-response tasks, do not avoid adjectives to dodge the endings — descriptive adjectives raise your score for range and precision. Even a few correctly declined phrases (**das berühmte Werk**, “the famous work”; **eine tiefe Emotion**, “a deep emotion”) demonstrate control that graders reward.
• The interpretive-listening and reading sections often ask what a speaker *prefers* or ranks highest. Comparative and superlative markers — **besser, lieber, am liebsten, der/die/das …-ste** — are the textual evidence for those questions. Underline them as you read.
